Soul Stretch

“Step out of your comfort zone, again listening for God's calling,” she says, leading them into a stretch during a class at First Presbyterian Church of Farmington.

Called Christian Yoga, the aim of the Thursday morning class is to improve spiritual and physical health.

The poses and breathing help quiet the mind and make it more open to prayer and spirituality, Beaubien said.

“It's really to guide you into your own spirituality. I'm not a preacher. I'm just helping people find that connection,” she said.

Mainly, her class is one of physical poses, called Hatha Yoga.

While yoga originated in India as a means to help yogis meditate, she said “there's no reason” it can't be practiced by Christians.
